Salonpas vs Salonsip: What’s the Difference?
Salonpas Pain Relief Patches and Salonsip Gel-Patch are both made by Hisamitsu Vietnam, but they are not the same patch under two names. The packs differ in size, quantity and active-ingredient formula.

Salonpas 20 Patches: compact, fixed-size patches
The Salonpas box contains 20 patches divided into two bags of 10. Each patch measures approximately 6.5 × 4.2 cm.
The formula shown on the current product information is methyl salicylate 6.29%, L-menthol 5.71%, DL-camphor 1.24% and tocopheryl acetate 2%.
The product is for external use. Its current safety information warns against damaged skin, open wounds, the eyes and mucous membranes, and against use with heating pads or hot bandages.
Salonsip Gel-Patch: larger patches and a different salicylate
Salonsip Gel-Patch is supplied as 8 sachets × 3 patches, for 24 patches total. Each patch measures 14 × 10 cm, substantially larger than the Salonpas patch compared here.
The current Salonsip information lists, per 100 g of medicated plaster / 1000 cm², glycol salicylate 1.25 g, L-menthol 1.00 g, DL-camphor 0.30 g and tocopherol acetate 1.00 g.
Its directions say to apply no more than four times per day and remove the patch after 8 hours of use. The current product information states use for adults and children from 30 months of age, with additional restrictions for younger children and children with a history of epilepsy or febrile convulsions.
They should not be treated as interchangeable labels
The shared manufacturer is useful background, but it does not make the products equivalent. The patch dimensions differ, the pack counts differ and the salicylate ingredient itself is listed differently: methyl salicylate in the Salonpas patch and glycol salicylate in Salonsip Gel-Patch.
That is also why instructions should stay attached to the exact box. Do not transfer Salonsip’s 8-hour direction to the Salonpas patch unless the current Salonpas leaflet says so.
